Outstanding and Frustrating for 10+ Years
I was extremely happy with the care provided to me by Dr. James Beisel for over ten years. Dr. Beisel was courteous, helpful, friendly and very responsive to all my needs and questions. I could not have asked for better care.

However, I was often extremely frustrated by the staff which sometimes failed to communicate important information to me on a timely basis. I think the problem is that Georgia Eye Institute has more patients than it can handle in a helpful and courteous manner by the majority of its staff. Thumbs up for Dr. Beisel. Thumbs down for Georgia Eye Institute.

Awful contact lens fitting
Dr. Dunham rushed through the contact lens fitting exam like it was
some sort of a race !!
Fitted 2 contact lens that I could hardly drive home with.
He said it would take several days to get used to the contacts.
After a week I couldn't wear the lens anymore.
I was told by a staff member that he was very good at fitting contacts and that
they had alot of contacts to try out in the office.
This was not true as I later found out.
After wearing the first 2 lens, I called the office to
say that my vision wasn't better, so they give me a lens for
the left eye that was worse than the first one I was trying out.
Dr's assistant then gave me an appointment for Monday, and forgot to
log it in the computer, and the staff seemed to
think it was funny. They said we'll have to fit you in maybe. This is after
a 30 mile drive at $5.00 a gallon for gas.
The receptionist then tells me that the doctor
wants to talk to me.
I tell the doctor that the lens were awful and I couldn't see with them.
I said that maybe he needs to do the exam over.
At that point Dr.Dunham became very upset.
He says that he doesn't want me as a patient and can't do anything else for me.
I only tried out 3 contact lens total !!
He tells me that he didn't charge my insurance company for the exam, but
when I checked with my insurance company, they said he charged them for the exam.
I was also charged a $45 contact lens fitting fee that I paid on my credit card,
and they would have to send me that refund in the mail.
I would avoid this office if you need contacts.
Very costly for me since I visited the office 4 times and it is 60 miles round trip for me.
DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THESE PEOPLE TELL YOU ON THE PHONE !

GA Eye Institue
It is a sad thing when someone is about to lose their eye sight, and Ga Institute turns their back on them. My sister called them , she has swelling behind the retina, Dr told her it needed to be taken care of at once. They recommended them. They turned her down because she had no insurance.
