My daughter had her wedding at the Mackey House on June28 it was beautiful. The staff at the Mackey House did a magnificent job. They really know what they are doing. The wedding and reception went off without any glitches. It was a beautiful event.Laura and Fred are beautiful people and wonderful to work with. They will make sure that the day is what you want. They really aim to please.I truly would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a beautiful and professional looking event. The staff was great the food was great.I also would recommend using there music package which includes there DJ. He was wonderful to work with, and he absolutely knows what he is doing. Everyone loved him, and he kept the reception fun. He is absolutely worth money.Dave(DJ)was great to work.
After a long year of planning the most important day of our lives, the Mackey House owner did not want to handle any of the wedding details until two weeks before and said "if I did not like it then I can just take my wedding elsewhere." What an awful thing to tell a person your doing business with let alone a "bride" on her Portrait Day. So we did and had the most incredible wedding ever...thanks to my newly hired wedding planner! We are now even getting featured in the local Savannah Wedding magazine. With the Mackey House it seems so great because they can accommodate a lot of people, where downtown Savannah it's a little harder but I will tell you that it is not worth it. Also, you might like that they have a DJ, caterer, beverage service, an all inclusive deal but it's NOT! You do not get to taste the food or meet with the DJ to discuss music until two weeks before. They just do so many weddings..no personal details are taken into consideration. On top of everything we were not able to get our deposit back but it all worked out in the end because we ended up with the most beautiful wedding that was even less expensive than the Mackey House. Everything was less expensive and we were in downtown Savannah and that's where you want your family and friends to see you get married...not someone's home where their personal belongings and furniture are in the background of every picture you take. I bet it looked great a few years ago but it is definitely run down now and their pictures do not reflect it's actual appearance...please go see for yourself. I know I have a lot to say about this place but I have a lot of personal feelings since I was planning my wedding there for 11 months. I will also tell you that my mother flew down from Virginia in June to plan and see the venue and we had a meeting set with the owners for two weeks and he stood us up! Was not there and when his daughter called him he said he totally forgot and to have his daughter, who does not even work there show us the house. Finally, since you have to use their vendors you have no control in what you are paying for...I was not even able to talk to the caterer and the food and alcohol is one price and it does not matter to them if you have a two week old baby they are charging you for food and alcohol. The owner said "if they are living and breathing we are charging you for them because kids just run around our house touching things and we have to charge for that." Really...all in all they are very difficult to work with and I am not the only one to admit that...I had the BEST vendors in Savannah and hired the BEST wedding planner within two weeks and she is the most incredible person ever - Tricia Huddas! I love her and I loved my wedding! If you want the best go to memoriesnmore.net. I hired their wedding planner, photographer, florist, and caterer. I loved my photographs and Teresa is just the best person you will ever meet and work with. I used Trevor Jenkins of Savannah Wedding Films for my videography and Minette Rushing Custom Cakes for my beautiful cake. If you need to see pictures or more details of my vendors or the Mackey House please feel free to email me at lalap7@yahoo.com. Happy Planning and make it the most memorable day of your life!!!!
